What The Hell Is A Tasmanian Devil?
Tasmanian devil is the world’s largest carnivorous marsupial, reaching 30 inches (~76cm) in length and weighting up to 26 pounds (~12kg). It has appearance of a baby bear, sharp teeth and strong, muscular jaws that can deliver one of the most powerful bites of any mammal. Tasmanian devils are strictly carnivorous, surviving on small prey and frequently feasting on carrion. A study of feeding devils identified various physical postures and eleven different vocal sounds that devils use to communicate, including their characteristic vicious yawn. They are widespread across Tasmania from the coast to the mountains and it is the only place where they are found in the wild. When threatened, a devil will lunge at its attacker, shriek, bare its teeth, and often spin around in circles like the cartoon Taz. #nature #funfact
