Doge watching Hindenburg disaster. Such zeppelin. Wow.
The Hindenburg disaster at Lakehurst, New Jersey, in 1937

Itโ€™s fire and it’s crashing! . . . This is the worst of the worst catastrophes in the world! Oh, itโ€™s crashing . . . oh, four or five hundred feet into the sky, and itโ€™s a terrific crash, ladies and gentlemen. Thereโ€™s smoke, and thereโ€™s flames, now, and the frame is crashing to the ground, not quite to the mooring mast. Oh, the humanity, and all the passengers screaming around here!
– Reporter Herb Morrison

The Hindenburg disaster was an airship accident that occurred on May 6, 1937, in Manchester Township, New Jersey. The Nazi German passenger airship LZ 129 Hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at Naval Air Station Lakehurst. 35 from the 97 people on board (13/36 passengers and 22/61 crewmen) died on the Hindenburg, and an additional fatality happened on the ground. Herbert Morrison’s reports from the landing field, were broadcasted the next day. The publicity shattered public confidence in the giant zeppelin and marked the abrupt end of the airship era. #brutal #technology
