Medieval art covers a vast scope of time and place, over 1000 years of art in Europe, and at certain periods in Western Asia and Northern Africa. In Europe it grew out of the artistic heritage of the Roman Empire and the iconographic traditions of the early Christian church. These sources mixed with the “barbarian” artistic culture of Northern Europe and up to this day will often make you think what the author had on the mind. #brutal #art
