Rock art is artwork done on natural surfaces. This includes: Petroglyphs – carved rock art. Pictographs – painted rock art. And geoglyphs – ground drawings and figures. It is one of the oldest material forms of human expression found throughout the world. Most often in caves or partly enclosed rock shelters, hence called cave art or parietal art. Depicted animals, tools and activities help shed light on daily life in these ancient times. Although, the images are more symbolic rather than representative. As for a doggo fun fact: Images of dogs carved into rocks have been found in the Saudi Arabian desert. They may date back more than 8,000 years, which would make them the oldest depictions of dogs on record!
