Even bad coffee is better… than no coffee at all.
– David Lynch
Instant coffee is made from whole coffee beans that are roasted, ground, and brewed. Then with the power of dehydration the water is removed from the brewed coffee, leaving dehydrated granules. When you add water, it turns back into coffee! So instant coffee and ground coffee are both normal coffee. However, instant coffe has already been brewed and undergone the process of dehydration while ground coffee is not processed beyond the usual steps of washind and roasting. #funfact
You Will Need
- 5 minutes
- a mug
- a tea spoon
- instant coffee
- water
- some way to boil the water
- milk (optional)
- sugar (optional)
Step By Step Instant Coffee Guide
- Boil the water, usually 200-300 ml per cup (you can use a kettle or microwave for this).
- Wait about a minute so as not to pour boiling water over the coffee, usually the water should be around 70-85 ℃ (158-185 °F).
- Pre heat your cup by pouring hot water into it, then pour it out. (optional)
- Add 1-3 spoons of instant coffee depending on the size of the cup and the intensity you want to get, with coffee for which you do not know what the best proportions are, it is worth testing different combinations using only part of the ingredients, e.g. to fill only half of the cup.
- Add sugar, if you do not know what is the right amount, start with 1 teaspoon, you can always add more later. (optional)
- Pour instant coffee with hot water, leave some space if you plan to add milk.
- Stir until the instant coffee granules are fully dissolved.
- Add milk – different people like different amounts, a lot also depends on the intensity of the coffee itself, generally from 1/10 to even 1/2 of the milk is added, the milk can also be frothed or at least heated, which usually improves the taste.
- Stir everything together.
- Enjoy your coffee!
