– Vyacheslav Molotov
Molotov cocktail is a generic name used for a variety of bottle-based improvised incendiary weapons. The name itself is an insulting reference to Soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav Molotov, who was responsible for the partitioning of Finland with Nazi Germany under the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in August 1939. The design is simple, a breakable glass bottle containing a flammable substance with various additions, and a source of ignition such as a burning cloth wick held in place by the bottle’s stopper. In action, the wick is lit and the bottle hurled at a target such as a vehicle or fortification. When the bottle smashes on impact, the ensuing cloud of fuel droplets and vapour is ignited by the attached wick, causing an immediate fireball followed by spreading flames as the fuel is consumed. Due to ease of production, they are frequently used by non-professionally equipped fighters in urban guerrilla warfare and amateur protesters. Highly effective against infantry and many types of light vehicles but not as great against heavy armor, although can disable older tanks and suffocate the crew or decrease its visibility. #brutal #history
Warning!
Molotov is a deadly weapon. If you are making this for fun not freedom then check your local law first and be careful.
Molotov Cocktail Mix Recipe
- bottle – made of glass or other breakable material that will not react with contents
- flammable liquid – usually petrol (diesel or regular) but other flammable substances will also work
- wick – heavy cloth or tampon (or flares/other stable ignition sources)
Ingredients (Required)
- motor oil / styrofoam – creates a napalm like gel that burns longer and sticks to target
- soap / dishwashing liquid – improves density and spread while making the mix harder to remove
- silver steel – increases the combustion temperature
Ingredients (Optional)
Recipe
Take a glass bottle (eg. from champage or wine). Prepare a base liquid of two-thirds of gasoline and one-third of engine oil. Add half a bar of soap and/or one cup of styrofoam (per bottle) and other ingredients like silver steel. Fill two-thirds of the bottle with the combustible mixture (or make it directly in the bottle). Prepare a wick from a cotton cloth or tampon, which should be tightly inserted into the neck of the bottle (the liquid should not spill easily!). Pre-soak the wick or invert/tilt the bottle to do so. Let it sit for a while to accumulate fumes. Light the wick and lob the bottle neck up towards target, watch out so you won’t wet yourself with the bottle contents. #recipe
