I like to use ‘I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter’ on my toast in the morning, because sometimes when I eat breakfast, I like to be incredulous. How was breakfast? Unbelievable.

Toast is bread that has been browned by exposure to radiant heat which results in a Maillard reaction, altering the flavor of the bread and making it firmer so that it is easier to spread toppings on it. Bread is often toasted using a toaster but if you do not have one, that’s not a problem! There are plenty of methods to toast bread, and for dishes that use some coating for the bread it is even advised to use a pan (such as in French toasts). #food
Various Ways To Make Toasts
Before You Start
Regardless of which method you choose, remember to test toast a slice first and observe the toasting results. Depending on the equipment and the bread, it may be necessary to adjust the time or temperature. For example, for French toast, usually egg-coated and using thicker bread, the temperature should be around 15% higher than that used for toasting of pure bread slices.
1. How To Make Toast In A Pan
Place a pan over medium heat, and drop in a pat of butter or a glug of olive oil. Cook the bread for a couple minutes on each side, or until itβs golden brown.
2. How To Make Toast In The Oven
Preheat the oven to ~350Β° F (~180Β° C) and place the rack in the middle. Place the slices of bread on a baking sheet so that they don’t overlap. Heat the toast for about 5 minutes, then flip and toast for 5 more minutes on the other side.
3. How To Quick Toast In The Oven’s Broiler
Place the rack about 3 inches (7cm) under the broiler. Broil the toast for 60 to 90 seconds or until it is toasted as you like then flip and repeat for the other side. Broiling is fast! Almost as fast as using a toaster but requires you to watch for the bread to not burn.
4. How To Make Toast In The Air Fryer
Add your bread to the air fryer basket so that the pieces do not overlap. Set the temperature to ~400Β° F (~205Β° C), and air fry for 4 minutes. Very thin sliced bread will probably be done in 3 minutes but If you like your toast dark observe and add a minute or so.
5. How To Make Toast In The Microwave
Generally you don’t. Unless your microwave has a grill mode or you have spare suscpetors like from frozen food, in which case you can try one of the methods for oven or broiler. Otherwise the bread will just get spongy or dry out as microvawaves doesn’t count as “radiant heat”.
